She certainly hadn’t expected him to turn into a cat when she hugged him.
It was an extraordinarily unimportant meeting. After a few light-hearted dates and casual get-togethers, the red-haired boy asked her one question, and his cheeks went an even more startling crimson than his hair.
The question was personal, heart-warming, even embarrassing.
The weak-kneed, timid girl didn’t know how to respond. After years of contact with his family and friends, she suddenly froze at the realisation of their feelings, blooming in alignment with the cherry blossoms of spring. She muffled her nervous giggles with her scarf.
Her rose to hold her hand; compassionate, graceful.
In all her happiness, she lost all sense of decorum and bounced up for a hug.
Then the young boy was a boy no longer; in his place?
A ginger tomcat.
After some moments of surprise, he continued to snuggle against her soft form, nuzzling her with his ear. She relaxed her body, and hugged him back.
A beautiful, tender moment amongst the cherry blossoms and the fresh rain, she thought. I never expected to ever experience such a charming moment in all my life.
Too bad she was allergic to cats.
In case you hadn’t noticed, this short story is based off the manga Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya! And, of course, its about my favorite pairing, Tohru x Kyo :3
